| John Elliott's Fall Winter 24 collection draws inspiration from a development trip to Italy, particularly during an unexpected off-day in Modena, a town known for luxury supercar brands like Ferrari and Maserati. It was during a visit to the Maserati factory that the designer was captivated by the unique way in which skilled engineers blended tailoring with activewear in their own attire. This encounter served as the driving force behind the collection's concept, which centers around the essence of Modena. The season takes a deep dive into the opulent interiors of super-cars from the 1960s and 70s, which incorporated exquisite materials like suede and leather with intricate stitch details, quilting, and bright metal components. Four standout fabrications define the elevated menswear collection: A custom-developed melton wool from Japan used in two outerwear pieces, a heavy moleskin for trucker jackets and high-rise straight-leg denim, a brushed knit with uneven skip-stitch for luxurious texture reminiscent of vintage car interiors, and beautifully patinated leather that has become a category staple for the brand. Additionally, the collection seamlessly blends tailoring with casual sportswear, exemplified by the inclusion of nylon tracksuits. A standout piece is a high-neck thermal mid-layer, paying homage to the protective gear worn beneath racing helmets and symbolizing the performance-driven culture of the local industry. The influence of Enzo Ferrari's life and vacation homes, particularly a Chinese oil painting from one of his Sardinian residences, is showcased in the season's standout print. Finally, lightweight cashmere-wool blend base-layer dressing is introduced. These pieces are fully fashioned with a reverse linking down the center back and a color-reveal detail, adding sophistication and versatility for transitional months.
